W2G entry very slow

The link says solved.  It is not solved.  I reported this last year as well & have confirmation now that another person reported it last year.  Please update here with the estimated completion date of the BUG Fix or give us a ticket number we can follow for the progress.  It is completely unacceptable that it takes more than a year to fix an Intuit TurboTax SOFTWARE BUG!!!

It's the worst!   I used to be a programmer there is no reason for this mess -OR- that they are not fixing this.   Shame on TT.   I've used your product for 16 years this will be the last year.    Obviously this was not tested & with all the complaints here the fact you are not fixing this is again shameful.   FIX YOUR INDEXED already!!!!!!!    We who know what goes on inside the machine know this is a programming error.   WoW is all I can say.    Every single entry takes longer and longer.   I was up to 38 minutes to enter 1 w2G.    Terrible.   And you are owned by quickbooks is that correct?   Such a big company with pockets as deep as you have and you are ignoring your base out here?   SO ridiculous and pathetic that this is being ignored.    You will totally lose many customers next year.   #shameful #badbadbiz

I am sorry but this has happened in 2020 as well and has been reported by me as well.  2021 once you go over roughly 10 w2g forms the whole software just lags and gets worse.   This should of been fixed for 2021,  Unfortunately, I tried filing it online last year and the online version worked but I didn't submit due to my wife's health and passing.  Now I am scrambling how to complete 2020 taxes. Can't do it online

Also a suggestion to allow manual add forms through form view to avoid the issue until fixed

You are right !   I've been reading more comments that it was a major problem last year as well.     I didn't gamble much for last year's return so I didn't have this experience but it sounds like you did & I thank you for reporting it.   Unfortunately they didn't take it serious enough.   Pretty bad eh?

I can't wait until I can enter all the w2gs for 2020 using the desktop version that it's going to take hours if it let's me. Plus uncle Sam and state are probably going to nail me hard for being late due to software issue. Only if they can do the 2020 online to allow people to submit new return

The bottom line  THERE IS NO FIX for the desktop version.  I reported it last years. Obviously, the software engine is having an issue with the total amount of w2g forms that are entered. Once you get past entering 8 to 10 the software itself gets slower and slower to a point why bother.

Clearing cache etc is only good for online browser stuff not an engine driven desktop software. I don't even think a super duper main frame could handle it lol

If you have W2G's from the same casino with the same EIN, you can combine them as long as the totals are correct.

It's 2023 and this is still a waste of time.  TurboTax have you ever heard of the copy command.  Having to enter the same information over and over for multiple W-2G's from the same casino is asinine!  Allow us to copy forms and just change the things that have changed on each form, which is usually 2 or 3 boxes; amount, type of wager and transaction.

You don't need to enter all those individual forms at all  ... simply add up all the winnings and enter the total ONCE ... the individual entries you put in the program do NOT go to the IRS ... only the total goes so stop wasting time and effort.  Skip the W-2G entry screen by simply indicating you did not get one of those forms then the option to enter just the total will be presented.

I’ve seen your reply previously and  that’s fine for you to believe. There are situations that your response is 100% incorrect, so I would suggest not telling others what is not based in fact in all situation. The fact is, TurboTax should make it easier to enter all of your W-2G’s.

I'm no longer using Turbo Tax.  I've switch this year.  Completely forgot I still had the account open until I started getting new people posting again on this issue.  I've used Turbo Tax almost ever since they started offering the software many years ago.  Sorry to see they refuse to address this issue.
