Okay so i forgot to file my unemployment when i filed February 2nd!!!! I tried doing an amend and you guys told me not to cause the IRS were making the changes when it came to unemployment, i’ve been waiting and waiting and cannot even get in touch with the IRS. Since i filed with you guys, y’all should be able to give me some type of answers. The person I filed with last year stayed up on updates but i’ve heard nothing from you nor the IRS. what’s going on?

You actually need to amend your return to include the Unemployment compensation that you received. TurboTax has updated their software to reflect the $10,200.00 exclusion of Unemployment benefits for 2020.

How to I amend my 2020 return

you guys keep telling me but every time i go to it it tells me that the IRS will update it, which they have yet to do so it’s confusing info being told.

It was when i started the amendment! I was told to wait to Amend because the IRS were making updates themselves. My screen says my return was accepted unless there was a mistake on you guys side?! Are you not able to pull up my account?

If you forgot to enter your Unemployment Income on your original return, you should Amend your return after you receive your refund from your first return.

Your Amended Return does not 'catch up' with your original return and correct it.  It is processed separately, and may take several weeks.

The message you are seeing does not apply to you; it is for people who reported their unemployment income and now want to get the Unemployment Exclusion.  They are being told to wait for IRS updates.
