My .tax2021 file is stored locally in the default Documents>TurboTax folder...so there should be no delay accessing/writing to it. I built my PC with a SSD, tons of RAM, and a powerful processor...basically overkill for any application like TurboTax. Something in their code during the recalculation is a bottleneck...they just need to figure out what it is and fix it. (There are a couple of more "errors" I've run into, but will report them separately.)
So not Google drive! Thanks!
I am having the same issue. Also running Premiere from a CD (but I downloaded the latest updates already). On the call with customer service, they tell me each field can take up to 3 minutes to reprocess. That is just ridiculous. It took me a long time just to fill in the W2. Please share if anyone has found a solution.
Wow...if they told you "each field can take up to 3 minutes to reprocess", then I guess they're aware of the bad coding and there is nothing end-users can do other than to use their fastest computer.
Since they know of the problem, they really should stop the "reprocessing" after each field is entered, or at least make it an option to recalculate the tax return after all W-2 info has been entered.
Using Deluxe and having same issue. Every field hangs on recalc. Ran 2020 on same laptop with no issues. This demands a fix.
This is absolutely a problem. My CPU usage is low, everything is on local drives (solid-state at that). My internet connection is blazing fast. This program is a dog. Intuit, stop making excuses, stop wondering if our systems are problematic. Set this up in your lab, do performance testing, identify the bottlenecks and fix them. Taxes are painful enough without having to spend 3x-5x longer because of your program. Isn't the whole point of your product to make taxes less painful?
I'll probably have my taxes done by the time they get a fix, if they even care to...
Same problem. It's hair pulling frustrating. I am used to flying through these returns for my family. I want to scream.
I'm having the same issue. Tech support could not help and offered a refund...Never had an issue like this in 20+ years...Data entry is taking forever!!
Perhaps Intuit should have to legally change the name from "TurboTax" to something like "SloMoTax"...🤨
Same issue here with Premier. SSD, plenty of memory, quad core, etc. File stored locally. Painful.
I am having the same problem with Home and Business cd I purchased. I thought it might be the disc I had was bad and was going to return it. But it sounds like it is a Turbo Tax program issue. It took me two hours to do a return that usually takes me about a half hour. Very frustrating.
Let us know what you find out. I’m very upset this program is going so slow. It seems like Turbo tax people think it’s on our end, but it sure appears to be the program. i just used my 2020 program on the same computer and it runs just fine. There is an issue with the 2021 programs.
Intuit, stop pretending this is not an issue with your code and FIX IT. My God how many complaints do you have to get? It's not Windows. It's not stuff running in the background (this isn't Windows 95). Stop suggesting driver updates and updating the software you are not dealing with idiots and that is insulting. YOU HAVE A REAL PROBLEM HERE that is provable and it's with YOUR software, NOT my computer. You've now been made officially aware of that and should immediately proceed to testing for a solution instead of asking people if their computers are plugged in.
I always thought it was pretty dumb to recalculate/reprocess the return after every field was entered.
I'm guessing the Software Engineers will say "it's too late in the game" to create a patch that might affect cause instability in other areas of the code.
The person who bears the responsibility for this fiasco is the team leader who would have been made aware of the extremely slow reprocessing but signed off on it anyway.
