Confirmed. The 2021 turbotax desktop software sucks. Entering W2 data is so slow. How did Turbotax actually release this crap. Are they trying to bully us into using the online app? Guess we need to find another provider next year.
I will certainly buy another product next year after 10 years of TurboTax. This is unacceptable, so much for loyalty!!!!
Just installed Turbotax Premier 2021, electronic download, all updates applied, tax file is local. I am getting the same behavior, entering in each field causes the application to hang for several seconds and to stop responding. It's sooo painfully slow.
Same issue with 2021 Home & Business. It's unusable in its current state! There's a 7-10 second delay between each field entering W-2 data.
I spoke with support on another matter and mentioned this slowness... the tech said he had not heard of any issues, and he offered no support!
Yep...they know about it, but have no plans to fix it, so they're burying it (i.e. offering no support).
Turbo Tax is so slow and intuit blames everyone and everything else other than their software and service.
Didn't help, downloaded manual update and installed it and still slow. Never had this issue in all the years I've used Turbotax.
I have the same issue with the Windows Desktop version. Absolutely impossible to use. 5-10 seconds to enter any field.
I was trying to reach tech support by phone, but the robot did its best to protect human operators from me.
Please advise what can be done? I can help with debugging sessions if needed or send some debug logs.
I'm running the 2021 Home & Business software and it is equally as slow. So slow that I thought my computer (in general) was having issues....but it's not - it's ONLY Turbo Tax. Hope it's fixed soon. On another note, I originally purchased from Amazon; Turbo Tax told me that some of these 3rd party purchases seemed to be corrupt, so they uninstalled and downloaded a new version for me; same issues. Even after they REdownloaded, my STATE was asking me to pay...what a mess they are having thus far this year.
Same problem here. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes to put in 7 W-2’s (and 4 were imported). Glad it’s not just me and my computer. Is Intuit not QA’ing their product before release? Very disappointing as we’ve been using TurboTax for 20 years. This will probably be the last time.
Either they don't care (since a lot of people only have 1 or 2 W-2s to enter), or they're too scared to put out a "patch" that might negatively impact the rest of the program (does not reflect well on their software development team). Either way, they're going to lose loyal customers because of their lack of support.
Same here. Have used TT 15 years and not recalled any delay such as this version (2021) has.
I'm running 4gb video card, i7-6700, 40gb RAM on NVME and TT alone is the software that acts like I'm running on a 1088. Unbelievable how slow the program is this year and how it hangs when it requires you to authenticate at Intuit site.
I read on another thread about skipping the Schedule B import so that it may run faster but that defeats the purpose of TT. Schedule B is the single most tedious one to complete and if I should forego importing from financial websites then I lose 2/3rds of the advantage of using TT in the first place. So that is a non-starter recommendation.
Please Intuit, fix your software so loyal customers who have recommended TT in the past to friends don't get chided for being fools.
I found that using form view for W2 data entry is the best way to avoid the problem. I did not encounter any delays elsewhere in the process, just in their redesigned W2 entry process (it’s different this year). One return complete, several others to go…
It seems clear they didn't do performance testing before release.
I need to finish my filing earlier this year. Seems like I'd have to put up of this crap.
Want to switch to another S/W if it's released.
