I downloaded the 2021 program last November when it was received; however i did not enter any data other than my name. address and pertinent data. I proceeded to trash the mailing sleeve several weeks ago. Started to enter data for Turbo Tax, learned the code was on the mailing sleeveand could not open the program without the License Code information now required, now but was not earlier. How do I proceed. I certainly do not want to buy another program.

If you will clear all of your cache folders and restart your computer it will allow TurboTax 2021 to fully open and let you update the software and then you will be able to use the software. I had the same issue and got no support from Turbotax, so I called Apple and they had me create a new user with admin rights and then try to run the application and it opened and worked perfectly, so they then had me delete all my cache files on my original user login and it worked fine.

I tried your suggestion and it didn’t work, it was only after I cleared all my cache files not just Intuit/TurboTax files that I was able to get it to work. Not saying that your solution won’t work for most users, but for me there was something else keeping mine from running.

Exactly what cache file did you clear that is not in the instructions. If one is missing I can get it added to the instructions.
After downloading and installing, I had an issue opening TurboTax. After rebooting, reloading, uninstalling, security patch, etc... it turns out my issue was with an open Apple Alert message, which had nothing to do with my installation, rather it is a warning I never hit "OK" to. Turns out, TurboTax uses Apple Alert messaging service in which you have to select "OK" to open the application. Apple Messaging did not show the TurboTax Alert message as it was queued behind a different applications Alert. Once I cleared the other applications alert message, the TurboTax Alert message showed up, I clicked "OK" and then TurboTax launched. Ugh. Not an issue with TurboTax or Apple I suppose, but it would have been nice if Apple didn't queue messages in the Apple Alert messaging system.
Me too. Absolute GARBAGE!!!! I'm 3 1/2 hours in and no resolution. Tried everything.
It's horrible. Been working on this for two days wasting VALUABLE time. More than frustrated. Tried everything.
Mine ran fine for a few days and then just stopped. Tried everything every article has suggested. NOTHING WORKS.

I have a simiar issue: I cannot get TT21 to activate. Purchased download from Amazon, uninstalled 3 times, tried to restart my modem AND remove virus protection and I can do nothing.

Removing and re-installing TurboTax 2021 solved my problem of TurboTax not staying opening on my mac. It would open, but then close within 1 or 2 sec.
Remove your current TurboTax file in your Applications folder, and all TurboTax files in in the user ~/Library. Then empty the Trash and Restart before you re-install.

The TurboTax files are in the user's library (typically Your_Name/Library or ~/Library) and not the system library (Macintosh/Library). I was unable to find the TurboTax files in my ~/Library until I realized that they were hidden files on my mac. If I did a Search for "TurboTax" in my ~/Library, nothing came up. Do a [Command + Shift + .] with ~/Library displayed to see the hidden files. Then you can delete them. Good Luck.
I spent uncounted hours trying to get TurboTax to work including 2 lengthy sessions with their IT help. Nothing they suggested helped. In the end, it was worth it since I have always found TurboTax to be excellent.
