AL forms are not expected to be ready until 1/25 or later ... try again later.
Wisconsin has the same problem and forms are available per the internet.
Forms available on the fed/state web site and the electronic version built into a tax program are not ready at the same time... the electronic version must be integrated into the tax program, tested and approved by the fed/state before they can be used to efile. The testing and fed/state approvals take time which is why there is a schedule posted :
Go to this TurboTax website for forms availability - https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability?albRedirect=true&product...
Well some how for last 25+ years they never been this late. And the link says it can’t process your request. Epic failure in customer support by TT.
It is only 1/3 for heaven's sake ... many of the state forms are not ready this year for various reasons... the federal form 1040 will not even be ready until tomorrow. And you cannot efile the state return until the feds accept the federal return which will not happen until about 1/24 so you have time to wait.
It has nothing to do with filing. I use the early release of state to estimate my tax. It’s also about customer support and a total failure to communicate with their customers base. Zero communication
All estimations should be done using the fully functional 2022 program or use the safe harbor method to calculate the minimum estimated payments you can make and then send more if you wish.
VA has not approved the software yet!!!

Been using TT for over 20 years now. I have no problems with the state firms not being ready, but don’t sell me a state version and take my money without delivering a product!!! Even an incomplete product is better than this never ending download loop

I know that VA has not approved anything yet - and neither has NJ or other states.
In the past - just go back to 2023 - TT would NOT allow you to purchase or download a State Tax form until it had a bare minimum of working forms in it.
If the forms for VA , NJ or any other state are not ready in any way or shape until say 1/24/24 - then don't sell it to me - don't allow me to purchase the option - don't show my its 'downloaded' and don't make my product enter a download loop.
This has never been an issue before - I guess now the greedy bastards behind TT can't wait to get their money - so they allow this to happen and to hell with the customer experience.
I used to use the previous year TTX to estimate, then several years ago I got a good deal on current year Turbo Tax. It included state before Dec 31, so kept purchasing them, but not 2023. Next year will use previous year to estimate as can no longer rely on timely TTX state download.
Opened Turbo Tax this morning and it went through its update procedure and downloaded the Illinois state tax forms and program. I have a feeling this will happen with most of the users on this thread.
YES...Virginia tax return appeared this morning following program update. Thanks!
VA showed up this am already downloaded (from previous aborted attempts). Thankfully. Not in time to fine tune my VA withholding though.
