trouble entering license code

It really is amazing that there is a simple workaround but TT fails to recognize it or communicate to its support people.

Yep, you saved my sanity with this workaround.

I found the solution on here.  If you’re using a touch screen like I was, you cannot make an entry in that text box.  Use the touch pad or plug in a mouse. It should work.  Like you I uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times. Good luck!

I spent hours on the phone with Turbo Tax Techs to no avail.  Im beginning to think they hire just anyone with no experience.  Seriously I knew more then they did and I'm no expert!  If you can find it try to find a answer by "mr_crispy" He knows what he is talking about.  If you can't find his post, here is what he said....  Basically if you have a touchscreen laptop or tablet or similar, you can't use the touch screen part.  You have to click in the license box with your touchpad at the bottom of the keyboard.  After that you should be able to enter your license code.  Also I've heard you can have troubles in the registration area on those lines - just use your touchpad there also and the rest you should be able to use your touch screen.  Hope this helps.

Thank you so much mr_crispy.  Your post saved the day!  I used my touchpad at the bottom of my keyboard and wala I was able to enter the license code!  I think they need to train or educate the tech support staff.  I am no IT person but I think I know a lot more about computers then they do.  I had 1 tech trying to find out how to uninstall Turbotax in Windows 11.  She kept putting me on hold & I ended up showing her how!  After 2 hours of non sense solutions like changing my screen resolution, downloading their version etc.,  I hung up and googled the problem and came across your post.  I was about ready to give up on TurboTax and ask for a refund and use another software product.

I have tried all the steps suggested in the previous post and nothing worked.  I tried the manual update and received the following error  "The file gnp.ylno_def_fe_xfgtni_egamirepw  cannot be installed because the file cannot be founf in cabinet file Data1.cab  This could indicated a network error an error reading from the CD or a problem with this package.  I got this after trying the manual update as suggeted on your site.  I bought the download from Inuit.

@SForrestLO this is the kind of response that makes Intuit have such a bad reputation.

The article you point to says "You must have entered the license code incorrectly, try again." 

WORST Help topic ever...and you point this poor customer who has a corrupt cab file to try entering his code again. SIGH

@rickmoyer  Your issue likely has nothing to do with this forum topic, or you have encountered something new maybe by following the misguided suggestions to reinstall to fix Intuits UI bug. (Support refuses to change the 'Best Answer' for this top despite my repeated requests...it is a game of folly to use these steps to enter your license code!)

If I were you, I would start a new thread...this one has to do with entering the license code...not getting install failures. Generally, when you get a corrupt file error, delete all 'expanded' and 'downloaded' files, and start fresh with the download, re-expanding the files again.

That's too vague.  Please explain so folks can understand your issue.  You mention a license code.   Did you purchase a 2024 license code somewhere and need to know how to download and install the 2024 software?
