One last follow-up about the zip code INACCURACY on the MI-1040CR Homestead Tax Credit form. While I had been given a free Desktop program to use, I've since discovered that the zip code is still pulled in inaccurately on that form, just like it did in the Online premium version (note: the Retention Dept specialist had me confirm the zip code in the wrong spot using the Desktop program, when we were only the phone; thus me previously thinking it was pulling in correctly... in my last message posted in this thread).
The work-around using the Desktop program is to enter only the 5-digit zip code in the "My Info" section at the beginning; then the zip code will be accurate on ALL forms (since just using the 5-digit zip code).
Geesh... seems to never end...
Oh my gosh, that is unacceptable. I appreciate all the effort you have exerted in addressing this issue. And it's very disappointing that after all these weeks, TurboTax has done nothing to correct it. I feel like I will no longer trust TurboTax to do my returns.
Using VA state return. I'm a part year resident. I have entered the date I moved from VA to FL, and the state I moved to. However, program keeps telling me I need to enter this information and won't let me progress
Filed my return and for social security senior you put Social security benefits in line 6a but you did not apply the 85% rule and put the taxable amount in line 6b had other income over $44,000 and that means you have to use the 85%rule. IRS reduced my return over payment by $3,676. Why did it not pick this up? Is this a flaw or is IRS wrong?
Turbotax bug preventing me to efile - see the following link for description of the bug:

Testing on this date indicates that the zip code is correctly displayed on the Michigan MI-1040CR form. Please advise what you are now experiencing.
When I run the final check of my completed Form 1040 I keep getting an error referring to Form 1099-R box 15. It says the state identifier MI cannot be the same. If I leave the information blank it tells me to fill it in, when I fill it in it tells me it cannot be the same MI. Very circular argument. This is TurboTax Deluxe 2025 and I ran the update software procedure today before I ran into this concern.
I know it's not ideal, but are you able to bypass this by not running the final check and just continuing to file? You do not need to run the final check to proceed.
My turbo tax state of Michigan return is not crediting Social security payments from my Michigan income
how do I report it and correct it so I can file my state return
Premier version Its missing in the software
If you are receiving Social Security that is taxable on your Federal return, then TurboTax will automatically subtract that Taxable amount on your Michigan return.
The amount of Social Security that is taxable on your Federal return appears on Form 1040, line 6b. That same amount appears on MI Schedule 1, line 14 as an income subtraction of Federally taxable Social Security, that gets transferred with all MI subtractions to MI-1040 line 3 where it is subtracted from the Federal adjusted gross income.
I am using the Deluxe Desktop software, off-line, to do my tax returns. I cannot update 1099-OID or 1099-R's, and my SSA-1099 entries triggered a Canadian Pension section which I cannot delete. That is as far as I have gotten on my Federal return.
I am using MacOS 15.7.4. I check the TurboTax software for updates, every day before I attempt to complete the returns.
To update the forms you would just need to go to the section where that form is located and click update next to the form.
To edit your 1099R select the following:
You will also find your SSA-1099 under the retirement section. After you enter the info from the SSA-1099, there is a question that says We need some info to check if your social security is taxable income, then it lists several countries. Be sure to select NO (if you did not live abroad). This should remove your Canada issue.
To Edit your 1099-OID select the following while in the income section:
