The fact that your state return was received before your federal return does not indicate any problem. It is not possible to predict the time it will take to receive your refund as this is dependent on the workload and processing time at the IRS.

If it has been more than 21 days and you have not received any IRS notifications you can call the IRS at 800-829-1040.

I’m having the same issue. Both filed the same day, both day accepted, got my state for the first time ever since I’ve been filing but not my federal, I’m like super worried. I was laid off I have a family rent and bills I’m stressing!!

Sometimes the state taxing agency is just faster due to manpower and number of returns being processed at the time.

Sometimes depending on the state, you do get your refund before federal. It's normal and nothing to worry about.

I submitted my taxes on March 17th and I've only received my State. The IRS website just says processing and I've tried to call but because of the COVID-19 situation there's no live people to answer my questions. If there was something wrong on my taxes would I even get my State?
