Submitted taxes - incorrectly checked that I am a dependent

My daughter completed her taxes and got her return for 2019. She made an assumption that she was still a dependent. However, my wife and I are not eligible to claim her for 2019 so she is not a dependent. This means she will lose the $1200 stimulus check. Is there anything she can do at this point to still get a stimulus check?

I have the exact same issue, except x2.   So the question is if their returns indicated "May be claimed as a dependent on another return" however they were not claimed nor could they be claimed, will this affect their stimulous payment.  If so, would they be eligible if they file an amended return?   Problem with filing an amended return is it is by MAIL ONLY and I'm sure amended returns will have very low priority, especially if it has no tax implications.    Any help from the community or TurboTax would be appreciated.  My girls could use the money right now; one is a nurse and the other was laid off as a result of the pandemic.

Yes,  If the return indicates that that individual can be claimed by someone else as a dependent.  They will not get a check.  They will have to file an amended tax return.

If you've filed your return and need to add additional information, then you will have to prepare an amended return in TurboTax.  I suggest you wait at least 3 weeks before sending it to ensure that the IRS does not confuse the returns.  You have three years to file an amended return.

If you used TurboTax Online, simply log in to your account and select “Amend a return that was filed and accepted.”

If you used our CD/download product, sign back into your return and select “Amend a filed return.” You must file a separate Form 1040X for each tax return you are amending.

Amend ONLINE    OR     Amend CD/Download       Amend 2016 - 2019

You will have to mail the amended return.  The IRS limits the system to only one Social Security number or Tax ID  to be E-Filed.  This is to guard against fraudulent tax returns.

An amended return can take 8 - 10 weeks to process.
