Stuck in Update Loop

What is "selective startup" with turbotax ?    NY state forms seems to be the common issue.

Stuck in Update Loop

Just got their updated fix and it worked! Needed to contact them 2 times after trying all their other suggestions that DID NOT fix the problem. Received a manual update that was easy peasy once they told me that there was an update to be had. Had to do with the NY state return. Have been a customer for many, many years and this problem was very disturbing and frustrating to get corrected. Began on Saturday Feb 8th and finished Feb 12th

You got that right! I contacted them 2 times bc I was not about to reenter everything all over again! 5 days later received the updated fix.

Stuck in Update Loop

Finally got it working yesterday after many uninstalls and using the DELETE State program and receiving updated NY state program files from Turbotax online update.

After all that, I finally got an email from customer support with a fix..........

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi there,

Thanks for letting us know you had a problem with the TurboTax updating loop recently.

We understand that your end goal is to file your tax return in a timely manner, and we unfortunately blocked you on completing that goal. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused to you.

What happens next?

While we continue to try and fix this issue in a future release to TurboTax,

we have created a manual patch for your state that can be downloaded and installed to TurboTax that will fix the issue and allow you to e file your tax returns.

Please visit our FAQ to get the update.

Stuck in Update Loop

I'm in Colorado.  Just had this same problem with trying to E-file my Federal and Colorado State returns together.  Tried everything in this forum.  Finally ended up submitting a support ticket then calling Intuit.  Spent and hour on the phone with a very nice lady.  The one additional step we tried was to download a Turbo Tax 2019 super patch file (184Mb) which you can find by googling "manually update turbo tax for windows"   Tried that (and a reboot, and running as administrator etc.) also but still didn't work.   Finally we I suggested we try just doing the Federal E-File and that worked.  So, this appears to be an issue with the state products.  I see other links to a FAQ that currently has NY and MA state fixes.  Here's hoping they add CO soon!

Nathan;

Thanks for the advise.  I did in fact get it to work by downloading the State Removal tool and then reupdating TT.  Since then, TT did come out with  NY state patch.  I have also downloaded that just in case, also.  Thank you VERY much for your input, I really appreciate it!  ~ Dave

Stuck in Update Loop

Same frustrating problem in Kansas.

Stuck in Update Loop

Here's the FIX via the TurboTax support person: I have the CD Deluxe version, so clearing cookies is not applicable. He first had me check my windows 10 for updates - which I had some pending, so I completed those. Then he had me check my McAfee antivirus for updates - which I also had one pending, so I completed that. He then sent a link to my email address for a MANUAL update of TurboTax. This takes a few minutes to install and prompts you through it. Don't run the TurboTax program till it is complete. Once it was done I started TurboTax and answered YES to install updates. I went to the final Transmit prompt and BOOM!, it worked perfectly! All done! I'm not sure which of the solutions actually did the trick or if all these steps were needed. Try your Windows and antivirus updates first and if that doesn't work call for the MANUAL update link to be emailed to you. Here's their number: [phone number removed]. Give them your case # if you have one for faster response. If they're backed up they are nice enough to call you back with the callback number you leave. Good luck!  Oh, by the way I tried uninstalling and re-installing the CD before all this but that didn't help. If you try a reinstall, back up your data to a different directory if you know how. I had to copy the 'cai' form (california) back over from the backup cuz it was expecting me to pay $39.99 for it. Also, if you reinstall the CD without erasing it first there is an option to 'repair' a previous install. I never tried that, but it could work. Don't worry, you can reinstall or uninstall the program without losing your data. It is stored in a different area (under Users). Also, another support person told me that this was an error message that occurred when the TurboTax servers were 'overloaded'. He had me turn off the Firewall to fix the problem, but that didn't do anything at all. I think he didn't know what he was talking about. Hmm. Anyway, good luck. Hope this helps!

I see the workaround for New York and Mass but what about other states?  Alabama?

Try deleting your browsers cookies. Please see this Turbo Tax FAQ regarding How to delete cookies! If that doesn't work try using a different browser all together.

If you are using Windows 7 as your operating system, It is recommended you upgrade prior to installing your software but TurboTax desktop software for tax year 2019 will install on Windows 7 (Service Pack 1 or later). Intuit Support for Windows 7 End of Life has more information regarding how to successfully install your desktop software.

Deleted cookies.
My op system is Windows 10.
Went ahead and e-filed my Federal Return.

Still need to file State of Kansas.
Glitch continues to prevent me from e-filing my state return.

Other ideas?

This may still be an issue with your web browser.  Clear your browsers cookies and cache then reboot your computer.  If this does not solve the issue post a reply for additional help.

Stuck in Update Loop

I was able to submit my Fed return and after trying many uninstalls and installs and deleting the NY state forms I as finally able to install the updated NY state forms and then could submit my NY state taxes.    It's a BUG with turbotax (nothing to do with cookies).   I also received a separate note from Turbotax support with a "code fix" but didn't need it.   IT'S NOT ABOUT COOKIES.
