Finally got it working yesterday after many uninstalls and using the DELETE State program and receiving updated NY state program files from Turbotax online update.
After all that, I finally got an email from customer support with a fix..........

What happens next?
While we continue to try and fix this issue in a future release to TurboTax,
we have created a manual patch for your state that can be downloaded and installed to TurboTax that will fix the issue and allow you to e file your tax returns.
