At the last step right before I e-file. TurboTax is checking one last time and it’s asking for “a little more information we didn’t get earlier”. It’s asking me to check entries stating similar questions like “Information Worksheet: Taxpayer First Name should not be entered directly on the New York Information Worksheet for electronic filing. You must complete the Federal Personal Information Worksheet.” All the information presented here is accurate, but I’m stuck here and I either have to check again or am presented the option to file by mail. Why is this happening? Can I not e-file? I was actually required to pay for a state e-file so if I can’t efile will I get a refund?

I have a similar issue with my WI filing--different entry it doesn't like, but also can't change it without taking an illegal tax credit. I, too, don't want to file by mail because I paid for the efiling before this pops up.
Good luck!

It is possible some forms are not available yet. The Review section will tell you what forms are missing. You can use this tool to make sure all of your forms are available by clicking this link Federal Forms.
If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can go to the gray bar on top of your screen and click on "Review" and it will walk you through any forms with errors on them step by step. If you are using TurboTax Online you can scroll down to "Review" in the left panel to start this process.
Also, make sure that all updates have been run for your TurboTax program.

I signed out of the desktop application and signed back in yet I'm still experiencing the same issue. TurboTax is saying that SSN, date of birth, name, etc should not be entered directly on the New York Information Worksheet. However, when I remove it and go through the review steps, it then says enter SSN, date of birth, name, etc. When I enter it, it says I should not enter directly...I'm stuck in an infinite loop. What am I supposed to do here?
If you are using the desktop program, open the tax file that has your federal return and prepare your NY return from that federal return. The state returns pull your information from the federal return. If you go to Forms, your personal information should be entered on your Personal Wks (your name).
It sounds like the return you are working on has an empty federal return. If you signed into TurboTax Online, you should sign out. Use the link below to find your tax file on your computer, so you can file your NY tax return.

To sign out of TurboTax in the desktop software - select File, then Signed in as username. Then click Sign out.
If you are trying to continue a return started in TurboTax Online, make sure you are signed into the correct account. How many TurboTax Accounts do I have?
