Schwab import fails

I was able to import all my 1099-R, 1099-INT, 1099-B & 1099-DIV into my Turbotax with no problems.   Maybe some of the other forms are not available yet.   I think that there may be a lot of people trying to access the Schwab downloads right now, and the Schwab site may be swamped.  I did mine early on Saturday morning, when perhaps there weren't as many people trying to download the forms.

Schwab import fails

I was able to log into my account yesterday and get all my forms with the exception of my 1099b. I haven't had any success logging in today at all. Apparently their site is swamped...

Schwab import fails

repeatedly failed for me on Mac OS 12.1 (Monterey). Tried changing default browser from Safari to Chrome, no joy. Tried changing password for Schwab brokerage to get rid of certain symbols (this had tripped me up in the past), no joy. Then just kept trying to fill the credentials window inside TT for Schwab, about 5 tries and it went through. YMMV.

Schwab import fails

I tried again and was able to download everything with no problem. Either someone fixed something that did not require a TurboTax update or Schwab is just swamped.

You’re giving me some hope! I’ll try in a bit again myself. Thanks!

Schwab import fails

Hi,

Can I import my Schwab 1099 information to the CD/download version of TurboTax, or does the import function only work with an online version of TurboTax?

Both Online TurboTax and desktop software (CD/download) have the ability to import data from a financial institution.

That being said, some users have recently reported technical trouble importing from Schwab.  But this season's importing from Schwab only recently began, so there may be some hiccups, which may be in part due to the rush of users this week when 1099-B's became available.    Other users have said they were successful or required more than one attempt.    In any case, to prepare your Schwab account for importing, you'll need to go into your Schwab account settings, and in the Security Center temporarily allow third-party access.   After you import your data, you can go back to your Schwab account settings and reverse third-party access.

ADDENDUM 2/20/22, 10:20 PM Pacific:  After importing, verify that all of your data imported correctly.

Anything new on the Schwab/TurboTax 1099b import problems?

Schwab import fails

I got in at 7:30 EST this morning Monday after a weekend of trying. Worked very smoothly once the connection was made.

Schwab import fails

Still no luck! Guess I'll have to try again after midnight from California.

Schwab import fails

I cannot import Schwab 1099.

Loaded Turbotax Basic yesterday, upgraded PC to Windows 11

this morning.

Tried to import, when I put in Schwab, and hit continue

it goes to a Bank Login page that is blank.

Any suggestions

You need TurboTax Premier for 1099s. TurboTax Basic won't import 1099s.

See the note about allowing Third Party access in Schwab.  Go to their "Security" section and make sure Third Party access is enabled.   You can also all the Schwab help line.

My data did eventually download...

The "expert" advice to reinstall software, change browsers, and other nonsense is truly awful.

Instructing users to completely waste their time 'troubleshooting' their browser or their client software in the hope of fixing a server side problem is a red herring, a distraction, an evasion of the real problem, and a truly horrible way to abuse paying customers.

No 'expert' should be trying to convince (or even be implying that) the users confronted with this sort of mess that they are somehow at fault.

An honest: "It appears that we have some unanticipated issues on the server side, and we are doing our best to fix this ASAP. Thank you for you patience as we try to deliver the experience that you expect." would be far more productive, helpful, honest, and intelligent.

I used Basic last year and it worked just fine.

from Intuit website on basic:

"Save time by importing financial data including W-2s, investment and mortgage information, plus import from Quicken and Quick Books Desktop2 (account required)"
