Reliable TurboTax vendor? Issue with invalid keys for TurboTax Deluxe

I tried to buy TurboTax Deluxe (Federal only) from Amazon and Newegg for $29.95 at each vendor.  In both cases I got installation software that identified itself as TurboTax Basic in the Flash page and Activation screen... and then activation failed indicating that the license code was invalid.  My research indicates that Intuit sold the wrong stuff to the vendors.

Neither vendor could solve the problem nor would they work with Intuit to fix the issue.  When I contacted Intuit they could/would not help either and said I had to work with the vendors.  In the end I wasted a lot of hours and had to have them refunded.

I know I could buy directly from Intuit, but their direct price seems to be much higher than from all the major vendors.

So, does anybody know of a reliable vendor for an "electronic download" TurboTax Deluxe Federal-only (don't need State) version that will give me real support and a solution if there are installation issues.  I am currently on extended travel outside of the US and cannot just go to a store and pickup a physical package.

I had seen some of those articles.  They basically admit that there is a problem but they don't provide a solution (like a new downloadable exe for Windows).

And contacting support resolved nothing.  They acknowledged the problem, passed the buck, then closed my case unresolved.  It just wasted my time.

Do you know if Intuit plans to sell/distribute a new version that installs correctly? 

Or after more than 10 years (maybe 20) of using TurboTax is this the first time I will have to buy tax preparation software from the competition?  I expect to be doing my taxes in about 3 weeks... time is running out.
