I am getting an error that Code A-101 must be entered. This is from Box 14 on W-2 and my box is blank
On Form IT-225 other additions/subtractions stmt (225): Additions Code A-101 must be entered
If I enter 0 I get this error:
Code A-101 should not be entered directly on the other additions and subtractions statement for state electronic filing. You should enter the information on the Federal return, form W-2.
I have deleted and reentered the W-2 form on the federal form, tried a different browser nothing will clear this error.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
If your W-2 Box 14 is empty and you did not participate in the New York City flexible benefits program, IRC 125, to clear this error, remove the 0's and leave empty. Then click continue. (Make sure you remove both 0's)
See image below for reference. This should clear the error
Thank you but I tried removing both zeros and I still get an error. There is still 1 zero showing up but it is in an uneditable box
I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:
TurboTax Online:
TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:
*(If using a MAC, go to the menu at the top of the screen, select Help, then, “Send Tax File to Agent”)
Thank you

After reviewing the worksheets, there is still a zero left that needs to be deleted. (See screenshot below)
Once I deleted this entry and ran the check again the error goes away.
Hello,
I'm having the same problem. After removing the zero in the Additions - Code A-101 blank, it says this part cannot be blank. However, the zero in "NY State allocated amount of above" cannot be removed.
My token number is 1288716. Could you help me take a look? Thank you!
I have noticed a zero being input in the add/sub (225) worksheet. If you remove the zero, the needs review goes away. See the screenshot below:
To remove the 0, follow these steps:
Open TurboTax
Click forms in the upper right corner
Select Add/Sub (225)
remove all 0's, included the one for NY State allocated amount of above.
I am working in the online free version of Turbo Tax and cannot locate the forms in the upper right corner to be able to remove the zero. Is there another way in this version?
@ uma122 posted the solution.
( I lost an hour of my life dealing with this this morning.

Hey everyone! SOLVED!
Here are the steps:
On the left hand side menu go to Tax Tools > Tools > Delete a Form. Then scroll down to your state tax return and delete 2 forms "IT-225" and "Other Additions & Subtractions (225)".
That's it! "
Make sure you delete BOTH the IT-225 and the "Other Additions & Subtractions (225)" forms.
Thank you!! This worked, Really appreciate the help!
Same issue. Can't clear.
I don't work or live in NYC. Why is this even showing up?

Thanks so much for sharing this tip for those of us who are using the online version. Just spent 3 times the minutes trying to overcome this do loop in the software as it took me to actually load all the info and do the rest of the tax return with my daughter.
Your simple fix nailed it, but now I've got to convince my daugther that going forward, using TTax product actually does save time....tougher sell after this time sink of an experience.
Been using TTax for 20+ years now and I'm surprised they'd overlook this type of basic, "101 level" loop in the UI, and only have the "delete form" option as the actual fix.
Please try deleting NY Form IT-225.
To delete, please follow the instructions below:
These instructions do not work. Any other suggestions? It is not letting me efile my NY return but when I printed it to mail, it says it is NY state law that it must be efiled Turbo Tax needs to fix this glitch! For retirees with no W2 to draw this info from, this field can not be completed accurately.
