My state has no state income taxes. Once my details are loaded my 'Price Preview' shows a subtotal of $54. However, when I go to check out the Total is $99. Why the incr?

My state has no state income taxes. Once my details are loaded my 'Price Preview' shows a subtotal of $54. However, when I go to check out the Total is $99. Why the increase?

Try clicking on 'State' in the left-side menu.

Then click on 'Your State Returns' at the top of the page.

Use the Trash Can Icon to delete your state.

You may then want to close TurboTax, re-open it and go back through the File section.

There's no 'Trash Can Icon' to speak of. I pressed 'Skip State' and when I go to checkout the price is still $99.

Did you select to have the fee deducted from your refund?  There is an Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge for that.

No. Paying with a credit card.

The 'My Fees' tool now says TurboTax Premier is $99.00. Earlier today it was $69.00.

If you are getting a discount from somewhere like your credit union you need to log in each time from their website.

Sounds as if the extra $40 may be for having TT  fee deducted from your refund rather than to a credit card???

... so consider paying by credit card if possible rather than having $59 deducted from refund.... if that is the issue.

No idea where the $99 came from. Since the delta was ~$40 I assumed the issue was state tax related - even though I don't file that.
