My Ohio state tax return was rejected for the last three years and my refund reduced so I want to transfer my data to H&R Block. Anyone else had this issue?

Customer service at Turbo Tax told me they were aware of this issue with some state tax returns but has anything been done to fix it?

Do you mean that your OH e-file was rejected?   Or do you mean that you filed an OH return and OH reduced your refund(s)?   We cannot see your tax returns so we do not know what happened with your state returns.  But----if that happened three years in a row it suggests that maybe you made the same mistake three times.   Your information flows to the state return from your federal return.   What did OH change to reduce your refund?    We do not know what problem you had, so have nothing to tell you in regard to other users who had similar problems (if anyone did).

As for changing to H and R Block you can do that.   You will have to see what H & R Block wants from you to start a new return with them.   Most likely you need your tax file, so look into how to transfer the tax file into their software.  Your tax file will be in your account, or if you used the CD/download the tax file is stored on your own hard drive.

Yes, my Ohio e-file return has been rejected for two years in a row and your customer service person was familiar with this issue but could not help. The state reduced my refund by about half each time because they said they did not receive copies of my W2s and federal returns and worksheets. I thought when I did my returns with you that you provided all that information to them when I e-filed. You charged me extra to file a state return; does that not include your providing the documentation that the state needs to complete my return? This year when it happened again I spoke to another tax professional who said that Turbo Tax has a problem with this issue and so here I am again with the same situation. What can you do to help? I paid for this filing but like last year, it seems worthless and I lost money on my refunds.

This is confusing---you say your state e-file was rejected.  So did you end up mailing your return to the state instead?  And if you mailed it, did you include copies of your W-2's with the return?  Did you include a copy of your federal Form 1040?

@Hal_Al   Are you aware of any "Ohio" issue that the user is referring to?

Lets start over.  Your state efiles were rejected?  Then did you print and mail them?  If you mailed them you had to include the W2s and copy of federal  yourself.  Did you use the Online web version or the Desktop CD/Download program on your computer?  If you used the Online version the fees are to prepare the returns whether  you efiled or print and mailed them.  Efiling is included and free.

In the Desktop program if you paid the extra $20 to efile state you can get a refund  of that.

Yes, of course I had to mail everything to them because your system did not submit them electronically.

I used the online version.

When you say you mailed "everything" did you include copies of your W-2's and a copy of your federal return in the envelope?

Yes, I mailed everything. The problem is not what I mailed but what was not sent through Turbo Tax on your end when I e-filed!!

@babrtotac  said " The problem is not what I mailed but what was not sent through Turbo Tax on your end when I e-filed!!"

Since your e-file was rejected, nothing was sent by TurboTax (TT).  Everything needed by the Ohio Dept. of Taxation (ODT) must be included in the paper mailing, particularly copies of your W-2(s).

When I say my Ohio state tax return was rejected, I don't mean by turbo tax. It went through on your end and I received a confirmation that it went through. Later I received paper mail from the state saying that I had not included my documentation and my return was being rejected.

ODT does not usually revise your refund ("reject my return" has a differnet meaning)  for lack of documentation.  The first letter asks you to provide the required documentaion.

Your problem is not from what TT sent to ODT.  It's something else. The most common problem is that what you reported (and TT transmitted to ODT) as withheld on your W-2 does not agree with the amount that ODT shows as received from your employer.
