If you have a full PC or Mac that meets the system requirement it would be more cost effective to use the CD/download, which would allow you to prepare and e-file up to five federal returns + mail additional returns.
If you use online, each user needs their own account and user ID. You get one return per fee. Unless your family members have VERY simple returns, online will add up to a big expense for all of the individual returns you mentioned.

When you use desktop software, there is an additional fee to e-file a state return. You can avoid that fee if you print, sign and mail the state return. The state e-file fee is $20 and increases to $25 in March.
