Missing 2021 Form 1116

MadersWorld - "next tax season"!  I'm strongly considering bailing on TT this tax season and going to Taxact.  Like you, I've used tolerated TT long enough with their eroding accuracy and customer service.  Time to move on.

I took the recommendation to remove the worksheet and move on without the form. Maybe next month or the month after I’ll see about an amended return and if the numbers change at all. I have a feeling nothing will, so I’m happy to have file today. Thanks @jamsklein for your post.

Removing the form is OK but only if your foreign tax credit is a max of $300 (or $600 for married couples).  So that's not an option for everybody.

I wish someone from TT could give us some actual information on what the holdup is, especially now that it's been delayed twice.  I've been a loyal customer for going on 20 years and I've never had to delay my filing like this due to an issue with the software.  It's a very disheartening and unpleasant experience.

Amazon has the H&R Block Deluxe software download on sale for $20, I think I'm going to pull the trigger...

Spoke to an agent today and I was told it will be available on TurboTax on 2/25, but the date on this link https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_fed_online_individual.html is moved to 3/3. The agent got a reply from her supervisor that IRS form is not available, but told the agent that the form is very much available at https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1116.pdf. The agent continued to maintain that they are not misrepresenting, may be some backend technical integration/data from IRS may be pending. Nevertheless, it doesn't give confidence that we will be able to file on 3/3 as the date has been moving from 2/17 to 3/3.

Is there a way to opt out of a particular thread other than just deleting the emails as they come in? 

I'm one of the "lucky" ones with not much foreign tax that can be handled with solutions already provided.  I feel bad for all the people who need to wait for the form, but I can't contribute and am not getting any useful information out of this.

My guess is they are both wrong on 1116 availability 

Agent says 2/25 available

TT on line says 3/3 available - as of today

but every few days they move the date out

Seems like you click on your image in the upper right corner to go to My Settings, the My Subscriptions/Email Subscription Options/Delete Selected Subscriptions:  https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/user/myprofilepage/tab/user-subscriptions

(the "select" box for the subscription is a little difficult to see but it's at the left edge of the screen in my browsesr)

MadersWorld - It's not as simple as TurboTax uploading the form. They need to write the software to support all the possible entries and perform all the calculations. I'm not excusing them. They should have had it working by now.

The fact that H&R Block had this form available over a month ago makes it obvious that Intuit attempting to blame things on the IRS is simply BS. The next logical step for those of us who are screwed (that's a technical finance term) by their incompetence or business decision to allocate insufficient resources to TT support is to initiate a blizzard of 1 star reviews at Amazon, Best Buy, Costco, Walmart, Target and any other retailer that carries the product. Individuals on this thread threatening to switch software will have no effect.

If anyone at Intuit bothers to read these posts: There are professional ways to handle situations like this. A good example is how Quicken handled the recent security update at Charles Schwab that made it impossible to download data. They acknowledged the issue, posted workarounds, and provided regular updates on progress to fix things. Intuit has simply lied.

I just went on and switched to H&R Block. It was not what I was used to but still had my taxes finished. Thanks turbo tax for giving us opportunities to try other competitors

Now it says 3/03/2022. This is all TT's fault. Unbelievable. And they send emails saying "Last Chance to Save!" if you file by 2/28. How I hate them (unfortunately not more than doing it manually) !

Form 1116 is available for weeks now on IRS website
