Thanks!
Thanks! I deleted the app and associated files and re-installed from my Downloads page in my account, and it's working properly now.
Thanks for the info, rafi. I just updated my TT Home & Business to version 2020.r12.029 on my MacBook Pro (Late 2013) which was still on Catalina. Going to continue following these posts for a couple more days before backing up my Mac and taking the leap to Big Sur, but your post has made me feel a lot better about the whole thing. Thank you, rafi.
Well I do have version 2020.r12.029, courtesy of a January 7th autoupdate, but today I have been unable to open the program. There continues to be a problem with TurboTax & Big Sur.
I followed the directions given on this thread to delete the app and remove all associated files. Then I downloaded TT20 again. All seems well. I did somehow mess up my keychain while I was deleting files. That resulted in some apps not recognizing my Apple ID password, but that is remedied now.
dhjaffee, I saw your post just in the nick of time!!!!! Was about to upgrade to Big Sur since I have the latest TT Home & Business update. Keep us posted, please.
Update for dhjaffe and others: Yesterday I upgraded to Big Sur after first backing up my Catalina drive with SuperDuper. (That backup will let me downgrade back to Catalina, if something goes wrong, but so far so good.) TT Home & Business 2020 is purring along without incident. The thing that may have saved me is that I had already installed TTHB 2020 in Catalina, before upgrading to Big Sur. We will see what happens when the next TT update is released.
Same issue and same as LAST YEAR!!! Why does this problem still exist?
Same problem last year :(
here's a link to solving issues with MAC OS. don't know if it will help. and I disclaim any responsibility.

I have just downloaded TT2020 on my Mac Big Sur with no problems except for a slight annoyance of having to select the TT2019 files to the program. Usually TT finds them itself and offers a list of previous year's returns. So no problem with Big Sur and TT2020.
Same problem as many are seeing.
Instal no problem. Launch the app and nothing. But I haven't been patient enough to wait 5-10 minutes to see if something loads.
I have Big Sur. NONE of my Turbotax products load any more (I still have 2018 and 2019). 2020 also doesn't load. Bought from Amazon today (1/17) and it's 2020-r01.013.
From one post it looks like I have to call Intuit to resolve this, but I also need to be able to load 2018 and 2019 versions as I still have a need for those years to be available.

It appears that Amazon still has the original download before an update fixed the slow operation. The product that Amazon sells is not the same product that TurboTax sells (it is complied exclusively for Amazon with a Amazon only offer inside the software). To get the fix, you must first install and then update to the current Jan, 14, 2021 update or get it pushed to you by customer support.
Once installed I have no issue running. I get the beachball for 4-5 seconds then all is OK. I also had the beachball running Mojave so I expected that. It was just the installation that took forever using the disc.
I have been on the phone with turbotax support for 55 minutes. It's mostly silence while the support rep is engaging in an online chat with 2nd level support reps who are giving her useless info.
I explained several times that I have the Amazon download of Turbotax and the patch level is from October. It's nearly 50% cheaper than the Intuit version, which is what I've used the past several years. I don't care if there are Amazon ads/etc. embedded in it. It works very well to the point that I can't justify spending nearly 2x more for the Intuit download.
She directed me to the manual update page for WINDOWS. I told her I have Mac, and she said the download should still work. To humor her, I downloaded the EXE file and told her - again - that the file is incompatible with Mac OS. She went on to ask what error message I was getting. !@(#*&$#(*$
I explained to her that there is apparently a more recent patch of Mac Turbotax that should resolve this issue and that's all I'm really trying to get. She's had me on hold for over 15 minutes while she said they are trying to get one to "push out" to me.
Here's a valid question: If it's so easy to download a manual Windows patch, where is the same kind of link to download the Mac patch?
