License Agreement Question

Under Section B Terms:

      1. License Grant and Restrictions:

1.2 Number of Accounts and Returns: Joint Filers: In part (3rd sentence) it states that "If you need to file                       multiple federal returns, you may create additional accounts using the same email". This is NOT                               correct. Once you create your first Turbo Tax account the Turbo Tax system will not allow the use of                         the same email name to be used in order to create another account. I have tried this...does not work.

Have you tried it this way?    You can start another return in TurboTax Online by:
Logging out if you are in your account
Choose what TurboTax Online product you want to use for the second return
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/compare/online

Create your account screen
Set up a new login for the second return
Start working on the new return

Or use the Desktop program. The Desktop program can do unlimited returns and efile 5 for free. And you can use any Desktop version, they all have the same forms. So you could use a lower version than you might need in the Online version.

License Agreement Question

Thank you for your reply, however, if it was necessary to segregate the federal returns by Account because one family member might not want to share their information with other family members, (let's say for a family of 5 as the example shows in the License agreement) it is not possible to do that using the same email name. In this example, the family of 5 would have to each purchase their own license for each of their Accounts which of course defeats the purpose of being able to file 5 federal returns? Paragragh1.2 goes on to say that "Only 1 federal return may be filed per account, and no more than five (5) accounts and five (5) corresponding federal returns may be created, purchased and filed using anyone email address". I think this sentence is in error since the Turbo Tax software can allow for up to 5 federal returns (per Account) that can be be filed (efiled) with the IRS.

Correction: I should have said in my example if all family members did not want to share their information.

License Agreement Question

Then I don't understand the problem.  If they don't want anyone else to see their returns then they should setup their own account (which they have to do anyway) with different email addresses.  But whoever does the return will have the log in information.

What about 5 accounts?  The online version  is only good for 1 return per account.   You have to pay for each account and return unless someone can use the Free Edition.   Oh, are you asking about the Desktop program that you install on your computer?   Desktop can do unlimited returns and efile 5 federal for free.  State is $25 to efile or you can print and mail state for free.   You can sign into another account under File-Sign in

License Agreement Question

You can create multiple online accounts with different user names and password, that are linked to the same email address -- but you obviously can't use the email address as the user name.

License Agreement Question

Don't think you can anymore.  Try it.   A new accounts starts by asking for email address.

Hmm.  Not unexpected, but not loving it.  Would prefer to buy a bit of software out of the box and not have to disclose my life story just to use it.   Wonder if there is a clever workaround (other than making disposable email accounts).

If you feel that way, you might be better off using H&R Block's desktop software since Block doesn't require you to set up any type of account with them (unlike TurboTax where you need an Intuit account). The software is also much, much less expensive than the TurboTax equivalents. I think the interface is more clunky than TurboTax but it's about the same otherwise.

Re the online variants, I believe H&R Block requires one email per account and return (just like TurboTax) BUT TaxAct allows users to prepare up to 5 returns (online) with only one email address (each return still incurs a separate charge). This is just for comparative purposes.
