You can use the same email address for 5 accounts and returns.
You can start another return in TurboTax Online by:
Logging out if you are in your account
Choose what TurboTax Online product you want to use for the second return
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/compare/online
Create your account screen
Set up a new login for the second return
Start working on the new return
Or use the Desktop program. The Desktop program can do unlimited returns and efile 5 for free. And you can use any Desktop version, they all have the same forms. So you could use a lower version than you might need in the Online version.
You can use the same email for up to five returns online, but --- and this is very important----each return needs its own account and its own user ID.
When you use online TurboTax software you get one return per fee.
Each return needs its own account and user ID. If you use the same account and user ID for a second return, the second one overwrites the first return and it is lost forever.
There doesn't seem to be a way to do this anymore.
Unfortunately, you can no longer create more than one account per email address.
If you have created multiple accounts with one email in the past, you will still be able to access those. However, going forward, you will no longer be able to create new accounts with the same email address.
THANKS FOR THE UPDATE! I just tried to make a new user too, didn’t work.
Yes, this is what I found as well. Why not? I have to file for my teenage kids...don't want to manage multiple email addresses.
It probably will be cheaper to buy the Desktop program to do multiple returns than to use the Online version. Desktop can do unlimited returns and efile 5 federal for free.
You can buy the Desktop Download program directly from Turbo Tax here,
https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/
For 2025 You will need Windows 11 or Mac OS Sonoma 14 or later
I also am doing taxes for a minor child who qualifies for the free version, so there's no point buying the desktop version in this case.
Use FreeTaxUSA for the kids (they allow multiple accounts per one email) and use TurboTax for yourself if you have things like consolidated 1099 forms. FreeTaxUSA handles simple returns with ease but folded like a cheap suit when I tried to import 1099 consolidated forms.
