If you did not file a 2021 tax return, then in the File section on Step 3 you were asked if you filed a 2021 return, you should have answered NO.
Otherwise, enter any 5 digit self-selected number for the e-file PIN and enter a 0 (zero) for the 2021 AGI to e-file the 2022 tax return.
I filed my 1040R last year with Turbo Tax desktop. I then went to the IRS website to make sure that I was using the correct number and I was. I see no way to check last years pin but everything else was o.k. It was rejected 3 times now and I at a loss. I live in Portugal now which makes it very difficult to file by mail.
So now what do I do? I am in a panic.
As you no doubt know the IRS website is VERY easy to use and shows the return line by line. Everything on there is EACTLY as Turbo Tax sent it. The ONLY thing I can think of is the return was filed on December 7. 2022. My idea is to I file the AGI for 2021 as $0 and see if that works. Maybe it was rejected along the way because of timeliness or hasn't gone through the system except the amounts are the same on the website. Does that make sense? Thanks you for your reply. The irony in all of this is I am a retired CPA!!!
