Is there a particular version of turbotax state (CA) that will generate "state" K-1's for a trust?

I already used turbotax business to generate federal K-1's.

Is there a particular version of turbotax state (CA) that will generate state K-1's for a trust? I don't want to buy a version that won't do that.

Yes, the CA state fiduciary module, which you have to purchase from within TurboTax Business.

While I'm in turbotax business, when I get to the state portion there is an offer to buy the state tax module. There is only one option, so I'm hoping that it will be the correct version. It's not called "CA state fiduciary module".

Right now, it's not yet available for purchase from turbotax until the 28th.

If you are in the federal 1041 Estate/Trust return it will probably only sell you the same kind of return for state.  If you were doing a federal LLC or Partnership you would only be buying that kind of state program.  It knows.  You have to buy each kind of state program separately.
