The TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions for tax year 2021 can be used on a Windows or Apple personal computer.  The CD has installation files for both Operating Systems.  For the download you have to select which OS you want to download - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/

I have an automatic renewal. In my account they placed  a "Windows" version. Can that be used on my mac as well?

No.  If the download is for Windows you cannot use that for a Mac.
