do I need to upgrade to Live Self Employed on turbo tax to do my expenses, is is better to just continue without expenses ? I did Uber as a side job, I am not even doing it now

Yes.  This is considered independent contractor or self employment.  You do need to use TurboTax Online Self Employed or you can switch to TurboTax Basic CD/Download version.

You have to report it and you have to report your expenses too.   You will need the Self Employed version but you don't need to use the LIVE extra help feature.
