I payed for turbo tax to verify my identity with the IRS this year turbo tax did not do that and i have to miss work to go down to the irs building to verify my identity

Sorry---it is not possible to pay TurboTax to verify your identity with the IRS or the state, so you misunderstood something.    TurboTax is a software company that provided the software for you to prepare a do-it-yourself tax return.  The software only knows what YOU tell it.   The software has no way to verify or cross check whether your entries are true or correct.  

Sometimes the IRS chooses returns randomly to request verification of identity and sometimes there is something on the return that triggers the request.  No matter why the IRS has required you to verify your identity, you need to follow their instructions in order to receive your refund.  If you do not verify your identity you will not get your refund.

You must have misunderstood something.  TurboTax, nor anyone else, can verify your identity with the IRS for you.
