I filed my taxes with turbo tax and it says i need to sign up for Credit Karma to finish them. Is this true? Do i really need to sign up for credit karma?

i keep getting emails saying "you're almost done, sign up for credit karma to finish." but after i tried signing up for credit karma i cant be found in any of the databases. not even other credit sites. i was just wondering if i really needed to sign up for credit karma in order to complete my taxes because if thats the case then i'll use other software.

I want to get a refund advance like I do every year and my refund is high enough that I should get it but credit karma is say they can't verify my identity. So what do I do? Don't they still have TurboTax cards?

No you cannot get the advance on a TurboTax card.   They are on credit karma cards this time.

No-one in the user forum can see your information, so we cannot tell you why you did not qualify for the advance.   It might have something to do with the state you live in, or you might have some other disqualifying reason—-we cannot see nor can we exert any control over it.

Refund Advance eligibility

Here are some of the eligibility requirements to qualify for a Refund Advance loan:

• You’re 18 or older
• You’re not a resident of North Carolina, Connecticut, or Illinois
• You’re e-filing your federal tax return with TurboTax
• Your physical address is listed on your tax return. Your address must be located in one of the eligible states and can’t be a PO box or prison address
• You’re not filing one of these tax forms: 1310, 4852, 4684, 4868, 1040SS, 1040PR, 1040X, 8888, or 8862
• You aren’t filing on behalf of a deceased taxpayer
• You must report income on a Form W-2, 1099-R , Sched C, or Sched CEZ

The refund loan will not be available until later in January when you can e-file your 2021 return.   The money for the loan is not given to you until the IRS ACCEPTS your e-file.  The IRS will not begin to accept e-files until January 24.

You cannot apply for the refund loan.  It has to be offered to you, and you have to agree to the terms—-which have changed since last year——so read some information——and pay attention to the details in the fine print …  https://turbotax.intuit.com/refund-advance/

dont feel bad i am not able to open a credit karma spend account all they tell me is they can't verify my identity and that is it,  when i called i was told credit karma has a glitch within in their system and so many people will not be able to open an account. I don't think it is right that we have to miss out on something that is very important all because of a glitch in their system.   Good luck on your end i hope your get your tuff figured out

All I really want to do is e-mail my taxes and receive my refund.  Apparently, this cannot be done without registering for Credit Karma.  When I try to register for Credit Karma, a screen tells me they cannot match my data with a data base they have.  When I click to receive help on this issue, the screen that comes up says "OOPS."  This is not helpful.  How can I get my returns e-mailed, and after that is done, sort out this Credit Karma problem?
