I am unable to import my Quickbooks data into TurboTax. Any ideas?

When I try to import my Company File, I get the following error after less than one second of seeing the message, "We're reviewing your Quickbooks information":

"We're unable to import your information. Let's try that again. Make sure you selected the correct company file and open the file in QuickBooks at least one time on this computer. If that doesn't work, we'll help you enter your info manually so you can keep working on your taxes."

I have tried all of the "Troubleshooting" Tips: TurboTax is updated, I'm using QB 2019, I am an administrator, I am in single-user mode. I've also done the following: ensured both files are in a local drive, ensured that the Company Name, EIN, and "Tax Form" in my Company file all match the info in my TurboTax program. I've tried it both while in QB and with the company file closed.

Any other ideas?

I am unable to import my Quickbooks data into TurboTax. Any ideas?

Update - I was able to solve the issue by moving my .qbw file from my C:\Users\Username\Documents\QuickBooks directory to a C:\Users\Username\OneDrive\Documents\CompanyName\Accounting\Quickbooks directory.

That shouldn't make a difference, but it did. #Annoyed #WastedHours

Are you using QuickBooks online or the Desktop program?

You can only import Quickbooks to Turbo Tax Business if Quickbooks is installed on the same Windows computer.  So you can not import from QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks for Mac.

Thanks for the post!  I moved my Quickbooks folder directory to OneDrive and it works now!  Must be some permissions issues under the Documents directory.

That solution did not work for me.

There is nothing wrong with my TurboTax 2020 desktop installation.

There is nothing wrong with my QuickBooks Pro 2020 desktop installation.

Yes, no matter what I do, I continue to get the error "We're unable to import your information.  Please try again."

Nobody at TurboTax phone support seems to even understand the issue.

So, where do I go next?  What do I try next?

I am unable to import my Quickbooks data into TurboTax. Any ideas?

I was just helped by TurboTax Business Support (Thank you Emely), and got my qb desktop company file uploaded to TT Biz 2021

TLDR; TURN OFF FIREWALLS AND ANTIVIRUS.

My Setup:

QB desktop pro 2019

TTax Biz 2021

Windows 11 Home

Steps they provided:

1) From a fresh boot up; turn off all firewalls and antivirus (exp. windows defender/windows security settings)

2) Right click on home screen to "refresh"

3) Restart computer, on boot up; ensure all firewalls and antivirus are/remain OFF

4) Open QB and have it on standby

5) Open TTax and go through the 'import company file' prompt

6) ^Hopefully you'll see the company file starting to import

7) Turn your firewalls and antivirus back ON

Hope this helps!

That fix for you did not work for me. I have the same problem, Quickbooks 2022 and TT 21.

Very frustrating. I call both support numbers and each one tells me it's the other program's problem. No one wants to troubleshoot the problem. Spent 7 hours on the phone back and forth to both program support teams at least 4 times each.

It is indeed idiotic. This is a programmer issue. It shouldn't matter WHERE the file is located as long as it's somewhere on your computer, or even your network, and it was generated using the same OS as your TT is using. Both QB and TT do extremely idiotic things. Must be a communications issue between the bean counters who get the "ideas" and the programmers who have to implement them. I've been there, so I know how bad that can be.

Same Issue.

Running QuickBooks 2024.  Newly Installed TurboTax 2023 Business.

I tried all the fixes, and nothing works.

1.  Moved my file (Which has always worked in the original location) to C:\Users\"User"\OneDrive\Documents\"Company"\Accounting\Quickbooks

Did Not work.

2.  Turned off WIndows Defender Firewall.

Did Not work.

I closed Turbo Tax (I downloaded the desktop version form the Intuit site).

RE-opened TT 2023 Business.  Installed the updates.

Loaded the Quickbooks file from the FILE/Import/From Quickbooks menu .

Success.

I tested again using the normal process in the GUI.  DID NOT WORK.

My work around is

1.  Start TT 2023 Business

2.  Load last years taxes per the GUI.

3.  skip the form asking for your information.

4.  Use the FILE/Import/From Quickbooks  in the menu.

--Load your QB data (I'm using QB 2024 Desktop)

5.  Continue through the GUI.

6.  WHen it gets to the load QB data, select the "Ill load my information manually".

7.  Your data should be in the system from the previous load.

**Additional note.  I needed to update my depreciation expense in QB, so I tried to upload my QB file again after the upload GUI screen.  I got the error again.  It appears you can only manually load the file BEFORE THE GUI screen to load QB data**

Hope this helps....
