I always use Turbo Tax on a CD. Are CD's going to be available in 2024

@T_Brute   No your info won't be on Turbo Tax servers.   Did you use the CD before?  The Download is the same as the CD.  It's  just the method to install it.  You can buy an install CD for 2024 for $10 after you buy the download and a License Code

I want to know what files I should put on a CD or USB drive to replicate a “purchased” CD.

Is there more than just the .exe file.?

I don't know exactly what's on the CD you can buy or used to get.   But it should have both the Windows and Mac programs.

My Windows Download program is listed in my Downloads folder and is named Windows_PC_TurboTax_Downloads.exe

So please confirm for me.   If I purchase the 2024 software as a download and not on disk and my computer (which is older) crashes and I need to purchase a new computer, I will be able to download the 2024 software on the new computer?

Yes, you would be able to download the software again if it crashed or you switched computers.  See the TurboTax help article below for more information on how you would be able to download your software again if needed:

@Cmb7    Since you now have to log into an Intuit Account when you first install it, all your downloads and licenses are listed there (even if you bought it from somewhere else) so if you need to install it again or install on another computer, even on the other operating system (Windows, Mac) you can download it again.

Under my Turbotax account > Manage Your Account > Products and Billing, it shows me all the versions I've purchased going back to 2014 with license and download links.  When I got my new Mac recently I re-downloaded 2023 so I could refer back to that, along with 2024, no issues.

One year tried the download and it didn't work,  then purchased another download same thing hoping 2024 will be smooth so let's wait and see.

Fully agree. I have been using CD format for years as it is an extra security. I do not like selling my software so I like keeping the disks.  CD formats also, in someways, prevent people from reselling. It seems many buy the downloads (5 machine versions) and then sell and make more money on their original layout.  I rather buy a single user CD. If I can't buy a CD version, I might be tempted to start using someone else's program, because sometimes those are way cheaper than Turbo Tax!  Actually, it may also be cheaper to just go to Walmart or one of the stores and use the tax service, especially for people who have simple requirements.

Sorry it is absolutely not the same.  A CD is much more convenient and secure with the key on it.  Take the price down $20 and it's close to the same but still worse.  Tried that a couple years ago, and now I don't have access to those years because intuit asked me for the key 3 years later.

Not true! The label calls for “PC/MAC”. So it requires a software of 13… or so. If you plan on using this on your MAC laptop ( software 12.6 fully updated ) it will not work. 
In full disclosure, I have not had the time to resolve this issue with Intuit Turbo Tax. 
At this point I’m out the $74.20 the download cost me from Amazon.

I have used to CD for possibly the last twenty years. I don't like downloads. The internet has glitches. But with no other option I did buy a download Premier. But when I tried to open it it said another Turbo Tax was open and to open with another account. The other that was open was the 2023 version. After multiple tries and nothing changeing , no success, no refund, no customer service I am left with going to H&R Block where they have a person you can talk to. Very Very disappointed. Very Very unhappy with the decision to go all in on downloads.
