You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large Orange button labeled "Transmit my returns now".

After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.

Once a tax return has been e-filed it cannot be canceled, retrieved or changed.  The IRS will not be accepting any 2019 tax return until on and after January 27.

I have submitted for e-file my federal return and each time it gets rejected due to an incorrect AGI. This AGI came directly from my last years 2018 turbo tax e-file. I will assume the AGI the IRS has on file differs. So, I attempted to create an account on the IRS web site to see what it had on file and my accound got locked because something was wrong. I went over the information I entered and it is absolutely correct. The only thing I can think of is my last name is two separate words.

So, I have a rejected e-file, I can't call anyone and, I cannot paper file which was the recommended solution. So I have a rejected e-file I will play roulette with the IRS site and everyone is hunkered down cause of covid. ANy suggestions is appreciated.

Comments/Suggestions:

1)  The AGI must be from the original accepted e-file that you submitted last year, so if you made any amendments, you can't use the later amended AGI...only the original one.  Look at your PDF of last year's first-filed tax return, and use line 7 of the 2018 form 1040.

2)  If you filed last year late...on paper thru the mail try an AGI of zero .  (You did say you e-filed last year though....try a zero anyhow).

3) last name two words.....same two-words as last year shouldn't cause a problem as long as they were entered the same way ..... but who knows what "improvements" they've made to name formats since last year.

Other than that...switch to file-by mail and take it to the Post Office.

You said you can't, but didn't say why...you have until 15 July.   You should be abler to find a way...somehow...unless living in, say,  Kazakhstan....but even there there are US embassies/consulates tah might provide a means for mailing.

If you actually hit the transmit button.....You can't.

You effectively put it in the mailbox at the Post Office.

Now you wait until the IRS "starts" processing the week of 27 January.  (no guarantee how many days later they will actually pull yours.  sometimes they pull some test files earlier).

1)  IF..if the IRS rejects your efile, then you can just EDIT your tax file and resubmit.  DO NOT Amend in this situation. (IF the IRS rejects, the state forms don't go to the state either).

2) IF...if...the IRS "Accepts" what you filed, then you will be stuck going thru the Amend process to correct everything.  And you have to print and paper-mail in the amended forms yourself at the Post office  .   Don't amend until you get your refund, or pay the balance due form the first filing....and don't do anything to amend until the end of February.

We repeat this many times...NEVER file before mid February....1 March is safer.  (Unless you are a victim if ID theft...but even then 1 Feb is better)

I e filed my 2019 return last night and need to make corrections to it. The only info I can find is that canceling an e file is not possible. The IRS won't even be open for 2 more weeks. How can I pull my e file back and mail it in?

An e-filed tax return cannot be canceled, retrieved or changed.  You will have to wait for the IRS to either accept or reject the tax return.

@Kc341 What do you mean by "cancel my e-file?"  If you already e-filed you cannot cancel.   E-filing is just like putting it in a mailbox--you cannot get it back.
