TurboTax (desktop) is telling me that I haven't itemized enough yet to take an itemized deduction and it will use the standard deduction. But, if I haven't itemized everything yet, it would switch. How do I get TurboTax to tell me how much I would get with an itemized deduction / how close I am to switching between standard and itemized? It may (or may not) be worth my effort to itemize more if I'm very close. (I've used TurboTax for decades and this is the 1st year I haven't hit the itemized deduction threshold.)

If you are using the CD/download, switch to Forms mode and look at your Schedule A.

Thank you, I think I understand now. Looking at schedule A, I see that sales tax is capped, mortgage interest is included, and charitable contributions are included. This year, the total of those is just below the standard deduction. I do wish TurboTax would give you the itemized deduction total more easily, but this worked for me.
