You most likely did not receive a first and second stimulus payment for your child and no additional credit with the Recovery Rebate Credit due to the age of your child. Dependent children who are 17 or older do not qualify. Please keep in mind that although they may be dependents on your tax return, they are not automatically qualified for a stimulus payment.
Hi Lena. Thanks for reply but my child age is 4. He is 4 years old.
You will need to log back into TurboTax.
Scroll down to the bottom and select Let's keep going.
This will take you to the input section for the Recovery Rebate credit.
Be sure to indicate the actual amount of each stimulus payment you received on the page that asks if you received a stimulus payment. There will be two boxes and both need to be completed.
The program will calculate your Recovery Rebate credit. Any excess amount over any tax liability will be refunded when you file your tax return.
See the following link for additional information on the credit and when it applies.

Thanks for reply, i update the correct amount which me and my wife recieved in both stimulus which is 3600(2400 + 1200) and after click on continue it shows your amount is correct.
So the problem is why its not calculating my child(son-4 year old) amount for both stimulus.
which will be $500 + $600. = $1100
Is there any software calculation issue? I am not sure what is the error here.
Does the child meet the requirements?
Who’s considered a qualifying child? (added January 5, 2021)
A qualifying child is a child who meets the following conditions:
The payment will include $600 for each qualifying child listed on your 2019 tax return with a valid SSN or ATIN.
Hi,
Thanks for replying, as per below qualify criteria, my child is qualifying for stimulus.
Also my child have ITIN as he is just 4 years old so SSN is not possible for him.
An ITIN will not work for qualifying a child for the stimulus payments. An "Adoption" ITIN will or a social security number (SSN) will.
See the question "Does my qualifying child need a ssn...?" in this link.
Thanks for the update. So can you please suggest what i need to do to make my son qualified. In 2018 when we tried to apply SSN for him when he was 2 years old, we came to know that he was not qualify for SSN. Thats why we apply for ITIN. But now he turns almost 5 years so can we apply SSN for him?
Also my son is not adopted, so can i apply ATIN ?
No, you cannot apply for an ATIN for a child who is not adopted or pending adoption. When your child is eligible for a social security number (SSN) only then can your child qualify for any stimulus payments unless there is a change in the law.
Until your child actually has the SSN there will be no stimulus payment for that child. It will not be retroactive, however, if you can get the SSN before filing your tax return the child can qualify.
Got it.. Thanks everyone for clarifying my query.
Have a wonderful day!!
