I cannot delete my form 8615 and when I redo the questions that are affiliated with it, I cannot edit the smart worksheet answers.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
If you have verified that your child doesn't have an unearned income of more than $2,200 then please follow these steps to delete Form 8615:
Please see What is the 2021 Kiddie Tax? for additional information.
I have tried this but the form still is there even after I delete it.
If IRS Form 8615 is immediately re-generated after you have deleted the form, there are questions or answers to questions that are causing it to re-generate.
Are you able to access the questions at:
Federal / Wages & Income / Your income / Less common income / Child's income (under age 24)?
IRS Form 8615 must be filed for any child who meets all of the following conditions.
The child had more than $2,200 of unearned income.
The child is required to file a tax return.
The child either:
Was under age 18 at the end of 2021,
Was age 18 at the end of 2021 and didn’t have earned income that was more than half of the child's support, or
Was a full-time student at least age 19 and under age 24 at the end of 2021 and didn’t have earned income that was more than half of the child's support.
At least one of the child's parents was alive at the end of 2021.
The child does not file a joint return for 2021.
No. I cannot reaccess these questions and it is possible I made an error when Entering ESA 529 1099 Information. But I cannot access that either as it is asking me to upgrade my tax software, which I do not want to do for this since I made less than $10,000.
Please see the following community post here to assist with the 8615 form that will not delete.
