Fidelity import not working. Pleas help

I have been using TT for about twenty years. This year has been incredible painful particularly importing. I have found it difficult to determine if data was correctly imported.I have two Fidelity accounts (one is for my wife's IRA. I could import one but when I tried to import the other it would cycle back to the first. This happened no matter what I did. I got through to customer support with no help. I insisted being put through to tech support. The tech guy pointed me to another option. There is an import option under the file menu that let me import the second account but with duplicates which have to be removed later. Now I find that TT is saying that imports from other institutions are in complete. I haven't figured out what to do about those yet.  To me this is a flaw in TT. They have screwed up what used to be a decent program.  The only positive is that I got through to customer service & tech support without too much trouble.

The best suggestion I have is to try the import button that you will find in the file menu.

Fidelity import not working. Pleas help

There are two options for importing. One appears as you use the usual step by step approach. There is another import button that you will find in the file menu. This allowed me to import my second Fidelity account. Before this button was pointed out to me I was repeated cycled back to the second account. Customer service was of no value but the tech support guy was helpful. Unfortunately I'm still not sure that my other imports have been accurate.

This is clearly a TT problem and not the fault of financial institutions.  In the past I found TT to work pretty well but it remains to be seen if I stay with the company.

Fidelity import not working. Pleas help

Whatever the root cause of this problem is, as a paid customer of TurboTax software, I expect Intuit to diligently investigate this problem to identify and fix the root cause. If this involves working with Fidelity to resolve this problem, then that is exactly what they should be doing instead of sending their customers on a wild goose chase. Intuit, time is running out for us. Please fix this problem.

This is just an update for the benefit of everyone here.

I saw an update for TurboTax today. Installed it and tried to import tax forms from my Fidelity account hoping that this update fixed the problem. Unfortunately, the problem is not fixed by today's update.

Fidelity import not working. Pleas help

I too had problems importing my Fidelity  statement. It took 6 or more attempts before it showed as received. Even then when I saw it received and tried to open it the program locked up. On the seventh attempt it showed received and I immediately SAVED the document...that seemed to work. However my small savings account at another bank did not show up as importable, nor did my account at the Pentagon Federal Credit Union. Two surprised for me and the financial institutions.

Here is some good news I would like to share here.

I saw a posting today by GLUA in https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/investments-and-rental-properties/discussion/re-fidelity-investmen...

He/she was able to import from Fidelity using the Turbotax online product and then download that tax return to the desktop and then continue with TurboTax desktop version.

I did the same thing. I started a new return online, I imported my 2021 tax return that I have on Mac. Then imported from Fidelity, E*Trade, etc. All of them seem to have imported successfully. I see the 1099-B data there. I am assuming there are no errors. Then downloaded that tax return to my Mac. I am able to continue on the Mac now.

What this tells us is that the import failure on the desktop version of TurboTax is 100% a bug on the part of this software. If it is a bug/problem with Fidelity, then TurboTax online should have failed.

Hope this information helps others who are stuck with a buggy software. Shame on Intuit to hoist this ugly bug on us.

I copied what you did with the online version and it downloaded my forms on the first try. Thanks for the tip.

Fidelity import not working. Pleas help

The Turbo Tax CD/desktop version did not import Fidelity 1099-B and 1099-DIV data for me.   After countless hours and ridiculous attempts from the TT support team 800-446-8848) to resolve the this issue, results ultimately yielded the same:

 1) Initiate Intuit connection to Fidelity Services with ID/PW credentials.

 2) Shortly after connection was established, the following message appeared on the screen: Connection Complete! Success! We got your tax data.  You can now return to TT.

 3) Once back to TT screen, a dialog box message says: This 1099-B import was unsuccessful.  Follow the steps in this article to fix.

Frustrated, I searched for possible solution(s) from the Turbotax Community Chat forum.  It was from here I ran across an older discussion (2021) concerning the exact same Fidelity-import issues.  As it turns out, the TT CD/Desktop version happened to be the problem.   When online TT version was used, 1099 import data from Fidelity worked.

Desperate and not wanting to manually enter numerous 1099 data entries, I decided to give it a shot and called TT Premier Phone Support [phone number removed]) to discuss further.  We were able to import all 1099-B and 1099-DIV date from Fidelity using the online TT version.

Hope this is helpful 😊

What is the specific error you receive when attempting to log in?

If you are using the Download/Desktop version, you will need to make sure you have updated your software.  To manually update for Windows, please see the Help Article here.  For Mac, please see this Help Article.  If this doesn't help you to proceed with your return, please reach back out here in the thread for further assistance.

I tried several times to import from Fidelity.  I signed in to intuit.  I never received a message to continue.  There was no way to import.
