I'm trying to file my Federal 1041 and CA 541 for a trust with TurboTax Business. I keep getting Failed Validation Error Code 54, even though I've downloaded all available updates. This seems to have been a problem in prior years as well. Is there a fix available?

If you're still having trouble validating your federal return, we recommend you try a manual update: Manually Update TurboTax for Windows Software.
We also recommend suspending any antivirus software and/or a VPN.
Does this link manually update TurboTax Business, or just regular TurboTax? I am reluctant to download a random piece of software. Can't TurboTax fix the problem in the software?
This proposed fix does not work. Will the software be updated so that we can file electronically?
Validation Error Code 54 should be fixed now. Please update your software and try again. Thank you!
I've downloaded and tried the manual update. I've checked for updates, none showing. I've ran as administrator. I was able to file one return already without issue. Another is getting this error, no special forms. In the error it says there is an update but there is Not an update.
The program thinks it is still running.
First, restart your computer.
This one worked. Restarted and Deleted all cache from my default browser.
For others who are reading this post - the uninstall, restart computer, reinstall did not work for me. I still cannot e-file my California 1041s. Get the Error Code 54. I was able to e-file the federal 1041s by only e-filing them (not the CA State).
You can print your California return and mail it. How do I file my return by mail?
I do not want to mail my California 1041 returns. I paid Intuit so I can e-file these. This is not a solution to a software problem that Intuit has not fixed.
This is a known issue in TurboTax and we are working to resolve it as soon as possible. As soon as we have a resolution for you, we will update you in this Community thread.
