E-file rejected

I have E filed five returns.  On the third individual's filing it was rejected for E filing because I had used up my five filings.  Yet, I received a certificate to say it had been E  filed and gave date, etc.  I cannot be sure IRS has return?

@ezchief1

You can check the e-file status. Please refer to this Turbo Tax FAQ. How do I check my e-file status?

Thanks; I wanted e-file my 2020 return; but my 2019 AGI caused rejection. I mailed the (paper) return on figures supplied by Turbo tax; that seems to be the proper alternative?

Yes, if you were still having issues electronically filing your returns, mailing them in would be the next step.

Please be aware, it is taking longer for the IRS to process mail so your return may take a bit longer to be updated online.  Please see the following link for more information from the IRS.

E-file rejected

My Federal and State tax e files were rejected for reason wrong AGI but the AGI is actually correct. I already had my credit card charged for the transmission fees and also authorized the debit to my bank account for the tax. If I file my tax return by mail and pay my tax via check I am afraid that they  will still charge my bank account since I already gave my bank information and my authorization to debit.

@mguerrero53 Please review the following Help Article, which can assist you with resolving an AGI reject code:  TurboTax Online instructions for E-file reject IND-031-04 or IND-032-04: The AGI or Self-select PIN ...

In the case that your AGI continues to get rejected, you will need to mail your tax return.  Please keep in mind that the fee you pay for TurboTax is for the preparation of your tax return, whether or not you e-file.

If your return is rejected and you do not e-file, the IRS will not receive your direct debit payment; therefore you can pay your tax via check.

E-file rejected

I am using the correct AGI and PIN from 2019 primary taxpayer. The tax return was filed joint for 2019 and 2020. I notice it shows both taxpayer and spouse AGI when I look at the edit for 2020. Don't understand why 2020 return being rejected. Will this cause a problem with IRS since it shows the same AGI amount for both primary taxpayer and spouse? The software requires me to fill in AGI amount. Please advise solution so I can e-file.

E-file rejected

The AGI is the same for each spouse if you filed a joint return for 2019.

 If it was rejected for AGI—-be aware that many 2019 returns took so long for the IRS to process that your 2019 AGI might not be in the IRS system.   Try using zero instead.

If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year.  The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

Or—-if you filed as a “non-filer” just to get the stimulus check on a 2019 return, try using $1 as the AGI.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.
