Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

Do I need to create a new TT account if I wasn't married last year when I filed my taxes and filed HOH? I have been using my TT account but it seems to be confused.

TT is asking questions about my taxes from last year but not his and it added his income and job place to my income from last year????

Your post is very confusing.  I think I finally read between the lines.  Is this it?  In 2017 you were not married and you filed as HOH claiming your dependents.

For 2018 you want to file a joint return with your new spouse.  You started the joint return using your existing account.  And in some way you added your spouse's name to the return.

It sounds like you got confused when you went in to My Info to change it to a joint return.  Go back to My Info.

When you enter your own information in My Info, you have to answer the question "Were you married?"  If you click the button for Married, then a drop down will appear that asks, "Do you want to file this return together with your spouse?"  Then you choose yes to file a joint return.  You would then enter your spouse's information into Personal Info.  Whenever you are entering income information there should then be a spot for you and for your spouse's income information.

When you prepare a joint return you include all the information for both spouses on the SAME tax return.  Include all of your personal information, all of your income from every source, all dependents (if any), all credits and deductions for both of you.  You get ONE refund with both names on it.

Best Wishes!

One other thing to stress...

If you are using your own account that you used in previous years.....you must leave your own name in the first position (Taxpayer) and the new husband must be placed in the spouse's spot....and remain there in the future.   If  you try to change your name into the second position, all kinds of problems occur with misdirecting who-is-who on the various forms.
