My divorce was final in April of 2020. Do I still file a joint return with him or file as single?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You file as Singe on the 2020 tax return since you are no longer legally married.
No---you are Single. Your filing status is determined as of December 31, and at the end of 2020 you were single. You should start a new account with a new user ID because it is too hard to remove the "spouse stuff" from an account that was used for joint returns
Thank you for the information!
I receive disability as my only income along with an additional amount for my daughter. I also receive alimony and child support. Is any of this taxable?
