Charged and never used

I was going to use TurboTax and file my taxes. I got to the end and they charged me $53 but I ended up not being able to file my taxes and now TurboTax won't even give me my money back. I'll do my taxes elsewhere next year when I'm able to file!

"ended up not being able to file my taxes..."

Sorry you had trouble.   I'm curious as to what the roadblock was that prevented you from filing the return.  If there is a problem with efiling that can't be resolved, it's possible to print the return, sign, date, and file by mail.    If you tell this community what the roadblock was, we may still be able to help you efile it.  But don't post any personal info in this public Internet forum.

Needed to know my exact income from last year on line. I looked at it showed $0 because I was working for myself so I had a 1099 not a W2 so it was going to be automatically declined if I went further. I just want my $53 back from TurboTax.

When efiling, if it was asking for your 2024 AGI, that is what it uses to verify your efiling.  You have to look at your 2024 Form 1040, Line 11 to get the 2024 AGI figure.   Whether or not the income was from W-2 or 1099 is irrelevant.   It only goes by what figure is shown on the 2024 Form 1040, Line 11.

Most people are able to use the 2024 AGI shown on Line 11 of the original 2024 Form 1040.  In a few instances, such as if people filed late in the year last year, then it might not work, but in that case they try using an AGI of 0.   People who did not file a 2024 return at all last year also would use an AGI of 0.

People who are still unable to successfully efile after all maneuvers can print, sign, date, and mail the return if you wish.  But you may still be able to efile, if desired.

This is a community forum--not a direct route to Customer Support--and unfortunately, we can't help you here with a product refund for Online TurboTax.  Only TurboTax  Customer Support can do anything about billing issues, and usually they do not offer a refund for an online product.  They usually say that by paying it indicates acceptance of the terms.   It never hurts to ask, but they are likely to decline.   In Online TurboTax the fee is for the tax preparation--whether efiled or printed and mailed.   Efiling is free.

Sorry the Online fees are to prepare the return whether you efile or print and mail or don’t file it.  Efiling is free and included.   Once you pay for Online you can’t get a refund.

TurboTax Online can be used at no cost up until the point that you submit payment. Once payment has been received, the product is considered to have been used to prepare your taxes, regardless of whether you print or electronically file your return, or if it's rejected.
