Can I file a new tax return for my son with turbo tax online? I don't see a file a new return option?

No.  The deadline to start a new  2024 return using online TurboTax was October 15.    If you need to prepare a 2024 return, you can use the desktop download on a full PC or Mac.   E-filing for 2024 returns will close permanently at the end of October; after that a 2024 return will have to be filed by mail.

You can also purchase the desktop download from various retailers such as Costco, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, Sam’s Club, etc. etc. etc.

When you use desktop software, there is an additional fee to e-file a state return.  You can avoid that fee if you print, sign and mail the state return.

The TurboTax online 2024 editions have closed so you cannot complete or file a 2024 tax return using the online editions.

To complete and file a 2024 tax return using TurboTax you would need to purchase. download and install on a personal computer, Window or Mac, one of the 2024 desktop editions from this website - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/past-years-products/

A 2024 tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed using TurboTax.
