Looking for answers for a stimulus check.  I have filed 2020 taxes and the non-filers to see if I could be eligible.  Me and my sister live together and she got her check a few months ago.  So please respond to this message so I can have some calm about this subject.  Thank you, Ginger Gsell

@GYG Not sure what you mean by "I have filed 2020 taxes..."  No one has filed a 2020 tax return, nor will anyone file a 2020 ta return until the year is over.  2020 tax returns will be prepared and filed in 2021.  If you filed a 2019 tax return you cannot turn around and try to use the non-filer site.  If you filed a tax return you are NOT a "non-filer."

The IRS can look at your 2018 or 2019 return to issue a stimulus check.  If they do not have a 2018 return then you may be waiting for them to finish processing 2019 before they will be able to use it to issue your stimulus check.

TurboTax has no control over your stimulus check, nor can TT track it for you or tell you when the IRS will issue it. Refer to the sites linked below:

You can call the IRS hotline at 1-800-919-9835 to get updates on your stimulus payment.

@akinadisa

The stimulus check is an advance on a credit you can receive on your 2020 tax return.  If something went wrong or you did not get the stimulus check this year, you can get it when you file your 2020 return in early 2021—if you are eligible.

I have contacted the IRS and it has stated that my tax form show an account number for deposit that is not mine that must be associated with TurboTax I am trying to find out if it's true or not. So I can give the correct account number and routing number for my funds to be deposited. But due to the fact of your phone system it is hard to get in contact with a live representative. I've already been to the IRS website and it cannot give me any information due to the fact I used your service

The method used on your most recent tax return for a refund is the method that will be used for the Second Stimulus Check.

If your most recent tax return refund was onto a TurboCard, see the link below for more information on how to access your Stimulus Check on your Turbo Card:

Access Your Stimulus Payment on Your Turbo® Card | TurboTax® (intuit.com)

Also, here is more general information on the Second Stimulus Check - including FAQs and eligibility criteria.  Get Your Second Stimulus Check | TurboTax® Official Guide (intuit.com)

If I was claimed as a dependent on my parents 2019 tax return but as of February 2020 was not a dependent and still did not receive any stimulus packages to help support myself financially, can I still receive a stimulus package? I have heard so many different answers and want to get the correct answer. If yes, how would I go about filing for a stimulus package?

@blakej26   You can claim it by filing a tax return.

The Stimulus checks are really based on your 2020 tax return. Any amount you already got will be reconciled on your 2020 return line 30. If you didn't get a Stimulus Check (and qualify) or you qualify for more it will be added to your 2020 return. But the good news is if they paid you too much they won't take it back.

When you go through the federal review tab it will ask how much you got if any. Or to enter your stimulus payment in TurboTax, type "stimulus" (without the quotes) in the Search box, then click the link that says "Jump to stimulus." If you didn't get one or both enter a 0 and not leave it blank or it won't calculate it.

After you have entered your tax information and are ready for the Federal Review, it will be the first question.

If you are trying to trigger it, you can go to Other Situations, answer any questions and click Done. The next automatic selection is Federal Review and it will ask about payments received.

Which stimulus check are you asking about?

If you filed your 2020 tax year return, the amount you were short would have been listed on your 1040 line 30 and included in your refund (or subtracted from tax you owed).

However your refund was sent is how the third stimulus will be sent
