The economic website says one thing, but the government does another. That's why we have questions and concerns that are not on the website.

@808_aloha Trying to figure out what your actual question is.. ...You mentioned having a college age child.  You do not get the $500 stimulus money for a child over the age of 16, so if you are wondering about getting $500 for her, you will not  (unless she is a very young college student).

I was claimed on someone's taxes in 2018.  But this year I am not claimed by anyone else.  Since I was working this year and am just now filling my 2019 taxes, shouldn't I receive a stimulus check  this year for my 2019 job, which I no longer have and could really use the money?

U.S. citizens and U.S. resident aliens will receive the Economic Impact Payment of $1,200 or $2,400 if they filed married filing jointly and if they are not a dependent of another taxpayer and have a work eligible Social Security number with adjusted gross income up to:

• $150,000 for married couples filing joint returns
• $112,500 for head of household filers and
• $75,000 for all other eligible individuals

The IRS is committed to helping you get your Economic Impact Payment as soon as possible. The payments, also referred to by some as stimulus payments, are automatic for most taxpayers. No further action is needed by taxpayers who filed tax returns in 2018 and 2019 and most seniors and retirees.   Use the link above to check the status.

Stimulus payments will be based on information from your most recent tax filings, either 2019, or 2018 if you haven't filed this season yet. But, the amount paid to you now will be reconciled on next year’s tax return based on your current 2020 situation.

I have filed my 2018 taxes and just submitted my 2019 taxes. When I check the site for the stimulus payments, it always tells me that it cannot verify my information. I don't know why since it is all the same. I've tried all kinds of combinations to no avail. Any thoughts?
