I'm e-filing my mother's taxes and it gives me a error message with two possibilities AGI witch I double checked to be sure it's correct. It Is. The other says the 5 digit pin is incorrect. If they need one from last year I don't know it. What do I do?

I'm having the same confounding problem. I have attempted upward of 7 times to e-file my taxes and all are rejected. If as some say we can just create a new PIN each year we file why won't a newly created pin of 5 digits work? Makes no sense. Wishing Turbo Tax had a phone line.
If you are referring to your 5 digit Self-select pin, that is a random five-digit number that you enter as your electronic signature when e-filing your return. You can either use the Pin from last year or chose a new one. Please see the FAQ link provided below for more information:
When I key in a new 5 digit # it gives me an error stating that is incorrect and rejecting our taxes. I went out to IRS and received a PIN from them but theirs is 6 digit and will not work even if we drop off a number to for turbo tax. So frustrating -
There is not a way to retrieve your five digit Self-Select PIN from TurboTax. For identification purposes, you can enter either last year’s Self-Select PIN or your adjusted gross income (AGI).
Please see What is the difference between the five-digit Self-Select PIN I created last year and my Self-Selec... for more information.

Help! The 2022 PIN # block is only 5 digits. My 2022 PIN # is 6 digits. It does not fit in Turbos" Format. MY E-file was ejected without any number. How do I rectify?
I have the same problem
I think you are confused with the IRS identity pin with the filing pin number that is required to e-file. The six-digit Identity Pin is issued by the IRS to those people that may have had their identities stolen or other privacy issues that were compromised. This is a six digit number that is reported by going to, federal taxes>other tax situations>other return info>identity protection pin.
The five digit pin that is used to file your return can be a five digit number of your choice and is independent from your six-digit identity pin, which is reported in the path I listed above.
the bottom line as far as I can tell, TurboTax does not support the 5-digit PIN you selected last year and referenced in your REJECT message.
Using TurboTax, you must file with either AGI from last year or AGI = zero.
When e-File is successful, the five digit PIN you enter this year will become the prior year PIN selected "last year" when you e-File "next year".
IRS lets you e-File with either the prior year PIN OR the prior year AGI.
