The 1099-NEC forms continue to be rejected when I e-file it, all the information is correct and are the same as previous years, there was not changes. Since the e-file version doesn't support the copy A, can I file it in desktop version to send it by mail?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You received an email that we cannot see that tells you why your tax return was rejected.
Some rejected returns can be fixed and re-filed. Some have “un-fixable” reasons for the rejection and have to be mailed instead.
What is the rejection code or rejection message?
If it was rejected for AGI—-your 2022 AGI might not be in the IRS system if you filed late. Try using zero instead.
If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year. The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.
Are you trying to efile a 1099NEC that you prepared to give someone you paid? What error are you getting? Are you using the Desktop program or the Online version? Windows or Mac?
If you are using the Desktop Home & Business version, Windows and Mac are different. The Mac version only lets you use the Online Quick Employer Forms and efiles the 1099NEC & 1096 Transmittal forms to the IRS.
You can do them 2 different ways from the Windows Desktop Home & Business program. Either Online using Quick Employer Forms (QEF) -or- directly on your computer with the built in W2/1099 Reporter. . If you use the Reporter on your computer you have to mail them to the IRS and not efile.
To file it by mail you would have to start over and select to do them in the W2/1099 reporter (in Windows Home & Business only) on your computer not in the Quick Employer Forms method.
