Trying to understand why Turbo Tax shows a total on the 1099-DIV line different than what I entered from forms received? It's a significant difference.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Are you using the Online version or the Desktop program? What amount is on the actual 1040 return? If it's showing over 1,500 you should have a Schedule B listing all interest and dividends.
For Online, Before filing, You can preview the 1040 or print the whole return
Did you download the 1099-DIV or did you type it in?
Did you click the box My form has info in other boxes and enter a value in one of these boxes? Did you report a nominee adjustment?
Please clarify.

First thank you for the reply. No, I didn't check the box - "my form has info in more than just these boxes".
In the 1a and 1b it shows 150.45 as what is shown on the 1099-DIV...
On the next screen for uncommon situations I selected none of these apply to me.
It then brings me back to my summary page and shows the correct dividend amount of 150.45.
But when I click done and it takes me back to over all 2021 Income Summary page under Dividends on 1099-DIV it shows a total of $12,440...
totally throwing me for a loop...
Shawn
Dividends can come from other places. Did you get any K-1 forms? Did you import any 1099B or 1099 Int from a broker or bank? That might have downloaded some dividends.

Revisit the dividends topic and delete the 1099-Div you entered and select done to get back to the income summary. Does the dividends topic now show zero? Re-enter the 1099-Div to verify it reads correctly now. If not use the "forms view" to check the 1040 looking for any of that extra amount showing up somewhere else.
If using an online product you can see your 1040 by:
"Tax Tools" in the left hand menu
"Tools"
"View Tax Summary" in the main screen
"Preview my 1040" in the left hand menu

Thank you, yes I did also get a K1 and put that data in. Oddly enough that was in a different section and didn't think it would impact the totals in 1099-DIV but it appears you are correct. The totals make sense now.
thank you,
Shawn
