1040-V for amended return

I filed my taxes and signed up to pay electronically from my bank - set the payment to occur about 1 month from now. I noticed an issue shortly after (like 1 hour later) and filed an amended return. After filing the amended return, I received a notification from TurboTax saying I now needed to mail Form 1040-V with a check/money order with the amount due. Note this amount due is the same as the original tax return - there was no change in the amount due after the amendment.

So, do I actually need to send in 1040-V and a check/money order. Or will the payment just be taken from my bank account. I definitely don't want to send in a check AND have the amount also taken out of my bank, double paying.

No, you do use the Form 1040-V for payment on an amended tax return.  The payment will be made from your bank account.  That e-mail is in error.

You will still get the first original full refund (and keep it) or need to pay the first tax due.  In fact you should not amend or change your return until you get the refund from the original return or your payment has cleared.

The amended return will only be the difference you get back or need to pay. You can confirm this by printing your amendment and looking at the 1040X. Line 18 should be your original refund amount and line 21 should be your additional refund. If you paid on your original return it will be on line 16 (but don't include any penalty on 1040 line 38). If there is an amount owed with the amendment, it will be on line 20.

Ignore any 1040V voucher that prints out and the new 1040. Those are what your return would have been if you had not needed to amend.
