Out of State Tax Return Requirement

I am a resident of Tennessee, where my LLC is based.  I worked as an independent consultant for a company based out of North Carolina. The company was a contractor on a Federal Government Contract (Military).

I performed the work on-site in Hawaii. Am I required to file an out of state tax return, and if so for North Carolina or Hawaii?

Out of State Tax Return Requirement

You performed the work in Hawaii so you prepare and file a non-resident return for Hawaii.  You did not work in NC (or did you at all?) so no return for NC, and you have no state income tax for the state you live in, TN.
