Not sure how to file this year since 2020 is still not resolved

So, I filed early in 2020, got my refund.  But, had unemployment of around $6K.  Once the law changed, IRS was supposed to send additional refund automatically.  As of today, that still hasn't happened, even though I'm a single filer using the standard deduction.  Also, removing that unemployment amount from my taxes would have made me eligible for the 3rd stimulus payment.  So, guess my questions are:  what do I show as my AGI from last year on this year's return?  If I take off the unemployment amount, it won't match what was on my 2020 return.  Also, can I go ahead and claim the stimulus $$ if the IRS has not yet adjusted my income to eliminate the unemployment amount?  I don't want to go to IRS purgatory.  🙂

The IRS is still sending out some of those extra refunds to people who paid federal tax on the first $10,200 of unemployment.   You are not going to receive the 3rd stimulus based on your 2020 income.   It is based only on your 2021 income now.   Use the recovery rebate credit in Federal Review when you prepare your 2021 return to get the 3rd EIP payment.   It will show up on line 30 of your 2021 Form 1040.

If you have issues with the AGI when you try to e-file 2021, use "zero."

Yes, you want to claim the stimulus on your return, if qualified. For the filing AGI, use what was on your original return. @xmasbaby0 is correct. If your original return AGI rejects, try zero instead.
